THE MAGIC CANDLE


NARRATION TEXT
THE MAGIC CANDLE
One day, a young wanderer got lost in a wood. Suddenly he saw a light from an old hut. He knocked on the door, and an old woman opened it. She was crying. She said that the devil stolen her magic candle. The candle could grant anything she asked. The wanderer asked her where the devil lived. “In castle for from here,” said the old woman.
The wanderer went to the castle. There she found the devil, but he was old and weak. Therefore when the wanderer grabbed the magic candle from the devil’s table and ran away, he could not chase him.
But the wanderer was not kind man. He did not return the candle to the old woman, but kept it for himself. He lit the candle and made a wish, “I want to go far away from here.” Suddenly the genies appeared and took him to a beautiful palace. There was party in the palace. The wanderer wanted to make some money. So he guests and was soon making a lot of money. Those princes came to buy the jewelry, but there was nothing left. The wanderer fails in love with her and asked her to marry him. The kind princes said yes and they got married the next day. In his happiness, the wanderer told the princes about his adventure and the magic candle. Hearing that, the princes got very angry. At night she lit the candle and wished that wanderer disappear.
In the morning the wanderer awoke and found himself back in his ugly house in the village.

1.      Orientation
It tells the readers about;
-          The story’s setting
-          The time in which it took place,
-          Who the major characters are, and
-          You may being to hint at some important details that will follow.
2.      Complication
This is an event or series of event that unfold and lead to a complication (problem or conflict) as they lead to the climax of the story.
3.      Resolution
This is the final part of the story where the problem or complication is solved and the loose ends are tied up.
LANGUAGE FEATURES
-          Focus on specific and individualized participant
-          Use of material process (action verbs)
-          Use some of behavioral and verbal processes
-          Use of relational process and mental process
-          Use of past tense
-          Use of temporal conjunctions and temporal circumstances
